How does it work?
I offer STEM tutoring and Data Science consulting/contracted work. If you have a need, reach out and we can talk! Whether you are a student being exposed to code for the first time, a professional looking to work on a difficult research topic, or a business seeking a customized data product, we can work together to achieve your goals. Scroll down for more details on the topics I cover, or check out my GitHub for some code examples!

Data Visualization
I offer lessons in the visualization of big data, whether making use of a coding-based approach such as R or Python or low/no-code platforms such as Tableau or Excel. Whatever your needs, I will help you build the skills necessary to create beautiful visualizations that convey data in captivating ways. Topics can range from simple charts and graphs, up to dashboards and apps for data visualization.
Machine Learning
For students who are unfamiliar, machine learning comprises any program that makes predictions about future data from information gained through existing data. This is often introduced via linear regression ("lines of best fit"), and logistic regression, but also includes more advanced methods such as neural networks and decision tree algorithms.

Whatever your skill level, I am happy to help with your machine learning needs. I will show you how to generate, tune, and validate models in R utilizing the Tidymodels, Caret, and Keras packages. I am also happy to work in Python, using sklearn and PyTorch.

GIS and Mapping
Whether you are using a low-code platform such as ArcGIS or trying to do mapping in R or Python, I would be happy to guide you in developing the skills to make beautiful and informative maps. We can walk through whatever problem you have, coming up with the optimal programming language based on your skills and needs, and find a solution. Topics include geospatial data visualization, spatial modeling, interpolation, aggregation, and more.
Databases
Wrapping your head around database structures can be tricky and I'm happy to help students build confidence in the creation, maintenance, and querying of databases. Whether your data is structured, unstructured, or semi-structured, we can come up with a means of working with it in a way to extract meaningful insights.

Typical editor tools include MySQL, SQL Server, and similar.

Physics, Math, Standardized Tests
I have a background teaching physics and math, and I started off my tutoring career as a standardized test tutor. The full list of courses I offer tutoring in includes: physics 101, 102, calculus based physics, fluid dynamics, linear algebra, calculus 1, 2, and 3, and statistics. For standardized tests, I offer SAT tutoring (all sections) and GRE tutoring (all sections), I also offer lessons in various subject tests.

If you aren't certain your course fits, just ask! I'm happy to answer any questions.
About me
I am a professional data scientist with over a decade of experience helping students achieve their goals. I graduated with a degree in biology from Cornell in 2015 and I am currently studying the Arctic as a Fulbright Fellow . The picture of me was taken on an ice floe during a 2019 Arctic expedition to the Fram Strait. In my free time I enjoy staying active, playing rugby, traveling to new countries, or finding new natural areas to explore.
